"The happiness of the bee and the dolphin is to exist."

My friend Walt was giving away some old art of his. I met him during my stint in the L'KEG Gallery, (which I have heart-breakingly learned from him is permanently dead) and is a good friend. So I looked through some of his stuff and settled on these. The first two are a part of a three-piece set, the third piece, "Makeout" (here) Walt kept for himself, I'm keeping the first, my girlfriend is taking the second, she is taking the Batgirl sketches as well.

I love his style, and I'm really excited to be in possession of these. He's done work all around the LA area, right now he has something up with Mastodon Mesa.

I haven't talked a whole lot about the L'KEG gallery on this, but during 2009 I've spent a lot of time there, seen some amazing things, and met some amazing people. I am going to miss it.

“Bad artists always admire each others work."

The sketches were done in pen on notebook paper 9 ½ x 6 ½ inches.

"Primitive Kirby Fleeing from Transitional Unagi" - Rough Sketch, part of a "Primordial Nintendo" series I want to do, I got lazy with the background.
Inspiration:

"Untitled" - Rough Sketch, part of a "Arms" series I want to do. I couldn't get the steam right, I'll name it later.

"Eggplant Man" - 2 ½ x 3 ½ inches, Acrylic on Canvas card.

~8:00 am
Mom: Have you seen the movie?
Me: [Asleep] What?
Mom: Fahrenheit 451, its really good, you should watch it.
Me: [Half asleep] I've only read the book...
Mom: [Saying something about the movie that I couldn't understand]
Me: [Asleep again]

She only wants to talk about these kinds of things when I am not conscious.

Art Can't Hurt You.

I was exposed to Fred Babb by accident actually, I found one of his shirts at goodwill in which its his painting that says "Art Can't Hurt You". I went through life for awhile not looking into it until one of the guys that works at this small guitar store I frequent noticed it and brought to my attention that it is a jazz album from Doug Robinson. It was indeed the same guy that did the artwork for the record of the same name. At any rate, he died in 2006, but his work is really good.

"Hey Scar, if I'm king, what does that make you?" "A monkey's uncle."

So I remembered about this painting that was stored in our garage for a long time, kind of creepy looking but I liked it a lot. I wasn't sure where it was so I asked my grandpa if he could find it for me and he did. Turns out its an original from my great-uncle Javad Hamidi. It was almost thrown away a few months ago but thanks to my brother Ryan it was saved and now I've claimed it for myself. This is it:

Its oil on canvas, I have no measurements of it and I think the title is something in Italian but I'm not sure.

His stuff has certainly been in display in Iranian contemporary museums and I think in Paris though I have not been able to confirm that. Apparently, he was one of the flag-bearers of the modernist movement in Iran. Pretty cool.

A > B > C > A

I want to demonstrate this concept in a painting, but with ice cream.
When I have time.

Me and Katie went to the Warholian opening last night, saw some friend(s), saw some Warhol, but the camera only had enough battery-life for one photo and I blew it on a sign that said "Jumanji".
